💧 2026 KID: Budget, Water & Sewer Rate Information 💧

What’s Happening?

It’s your chance to connect and learn how Kearns Improvement District (KID) determines the 2026 Budget and Water & Sewer Rates.

Over the next three months, the KID Board of Trustees and Management will be developing the 2026 Budget and Rates.

🔑 Major Issues Impacting This Year’s Rates:

  • 📈 7.6% wholesale water rate increase from Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District (JVWCD).
  • 📜 Utah House Bill 274 – Mandating Landscape Water Tier Pricing Increases.
  • 🏗️ Increased capital & maintenance costs of water & sewer piping materials due to tariffs.
  • 💵 New Utah Division of Drinking Water Fee – $0.0331/1,000 gallons.
  • Loss of anticipated Federal & State grant funding.
  • 💧 Ongoing $500,000,000 renovation of Central Valley Water Reclamation Facility sewer treatment plant.

🎯 KID Goals:

  • Minimize costs to Residential Single-Family customers.
  • Work toward equalization of rates across all classifications.
  • Ensure the safe, clean, and reliable delivery of water and sewer services.
